TEXTILE INDUSTRY REMAINS ATTRACTIVE TO INVESTORS,INDONESIA TO SIMPLIFY LICENSING

The Indonesian government plans to ease investment licensing in the textile and textile products (TPT) sector to enhance competitiveness and attract more investors. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized the importance of this labor-intensive sector, which contributes over US$2 billion in exports and employs nearly 4 million people. However, he noted that licensing obstacles still hinder investment, even as Indonesia has advanced to producing higher value-added goods like textiles and footwear. President Prabowo Subianto has directed the government to address key challenges in the sector, including the availability of raw materials, illegal imports, and supply chain issues. Additionally, the government aims to harmonize tariffs and combat harmful dumping practices by implementing anti-dumping policies. These efforts are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness against regional players such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. To ensure effective implementation, the government will establish a special task force to oversee and accelerate deregulation efforts. This initiative aims to foster growth in the textile industry by simplifying bureaucratic processes and improving regulatory frameworks. With these measures, Indonesia hopes to solidify its position in the global textile market and enhance the industry's long-term sustainability.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20250319/257/1863001/industri-tekstil-masih-diminati-investor-pemerintah-siap-permudah-perizinan (ICE GIACARTA)
