INDONESIA'S PRESIDENT INAUGURATED BATANG SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE
Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto visited Central Java on March 20 to inaugurate the Batang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and inspect the progress of a joint project with China. According to Press Secretary Yusuf Permana, the Batang SEZ aims to attract IDR 75.8 trillion (US$4.6 billion) in investment and create over 58,000 jobs within five years, focusing on manufacturing, logistics, and distribution. Since its establishment last year, the industrial zone has already generated over 7,000 jobs and welcomed multinational companies such as South Korea’s KCC Glass, Taiwan’s Yihquan Footwear, and the United States’ SEG Solar. During the visit, President Prabowo also reviewed the Two Countries Twin Parks project, a collaboration with China’s Fujian Province, which has invested IDR 16 trillion in the initiative. The project aims to strengthen economic ties between Indonesia and China by fostering industrial cooperation. Additionally, an international port is under construction in the Batang SEZ and is expected to be operational next year, further enhancing the region’s economic potential and connectivity.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/prabowo-to-inaugurate-batang-special-economic-zone (ICE GIACARTA)
