INDONESIA'S GOVERNMENT PLANS TO INCREASE GOLD AND NICKEL ROYALTIES BY 1.5-3%

The Indonesian government plans to increase royalties and Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) for minerals and coal, specifically targeting commodities like gold, nickel, and coal. This decision was announced by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto. The increase is intended to align with the rising market prices of these commodities, ensuring that the country benefits from the higher prices. To implement this change, the government will revise two regulations: Government Regulation Number 26 of 2022, which deals with types and tariffs for Non-Tax State Revenue applicable to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Government Regulation Number 15 of 2022, which concerns tax treatment and Non-Tax State Revenue in the coal mining business sector. These revisions aim to accommodate the new sources of state revenue and maintain a balance between market prices and state income. The planned increase in royalties will apply to both raw materials and finished goods, with the rates expected to range from 1.5 percent to 3 percent. The Minister emphasized that it is only fair for the country to receive additional income when commodity prices rise. This move is seen as a way to ensure that the state benefits from the booming prices of nickel and gold, maintaining economic balance and supporting national revenue growth.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/bahlil-pemerintah-berencana-naikkan-royalti-emas-dan-nikel-15-3 (ICE GIACARTA)
