QIDDIYA TO OPEN THEME PARKS BY THE END OF 2025

Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) plans to inaugurate the Six Flags theme park and Aquarabia water park by the end of this year.  The construction works have reached advanced stages and the projects will be opened in 2025. An update posted on QIC’s website stated that construction on the Six Flags theme park and Aquarabia water park has reached 89% and 84%, respectively. In February, QIC officially appointed US-based Six Flags Entertainment Corporation as the operator for the Six Flags theme park and Aquarabia water park. In December 2021, QIC awarded a $1bn contract to the joint venture of France’s Bouygues Batiment International and the local Saudi Almabani General Contractors to construct the Six Flags theme park at Qiddiya. The theme park will cover an area of 320,000 square metres and feature 28 rides and attractions, 10 of which will be thrill rides and 18 designed for families and young children. This was followed by another $500m contract to build the water park, awarded in 2022 to the local El-Seif Engineering Contracting and UAE-based Alec. Designed to be the region’s largest water park, it will have 23 rides and attractions. It covers an area of 250,000 sq m, with 40,000 sq m of building work. QIC is ramping up its construction efforts at the development. In February,  QIC had allowed firms until 7 April to submit proposals for the main contract to build a wadi bridge in Qiddiya. The contract covers designing and constructing a 260-metre-long dual-carriageway bridge over a wadi in Qiddiya. The bridge will be located in the Uptown South district, also known as District 18, and forms part of the outer ring road in Qiddiya. The scheme will be located to the east of the gigaproject’s gaming and e-sports precinct. Also in February, QIC had awarded a contract to local firm Ammico Contracting to undertake piling works on its performance arts centre at Qiddiya Entertainment City. Contractors are engaged with tendering for the contract to build the performance arts centre. The firms submitted the first stage bids late last year. The stage two bids are due in May this year.   For registration as a supplier: https://projectsuppliers.net/en/approvals/qiddiya   (ICE RIYADH)
