Kazakhstan to launch seven new industrial waste recycling projects by end of 2025Kazakhstan plans to launch seven new industrial waste recycling projects worth 110 billion tenge by the end of 2025, according to the Minister of Industry and Construction, Yersayyn Nagaspayev."In addition, 25 projects for the secondary recycling of industrial waste, totaling 330 billion tenge, are currently being implemented. Eight projects worth 133 billion tenge have already been launched. This year, we plan to launch seven new projects worth 110 billion tenge," Nagaspayev stated during a government meeting in Astana on Wednesday. The minister also noted that Kazakhstan’s mining waste recycling rate is around 11%, far below the 70-80% seen in developed countries. This recycling involves the use of exhausted mineral deposits and tailings from copper, gold, iron, and other metal mining processes."For example, the Kounrad company recycles technogenic-mineral formations (TMF) from its mine, producing up to 12,000 tonnes of copper annually, which accounts for approximately 2.8% of the country's total copper output. Over the past two years, three waste recycling projects worth 47.8 billion tenge have been implemented. In the next two years, four more projects are planned, with total investments of 37 billion tenge," the minister said.To address accumulated mining waste near residential areas, the ministry is working on legislative changes to enable waste removal and recycling outside populated regions, especially in mono-cities. "The ministry is also considering introducing a simplified license for mining waste recycling," he said. (ICE ALMATY)
