INDONESIA HAILS STATE BUDGET'S ROLE IN TOURISM, TOLL ROAD DEVELOPMENT

Indonesia's Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized the role of Indonesia’s state budget (APBN) in driving regional development through investments in tourism and infrastructure. One highlighted example is the Kesek River tourist area in Kendal, Central Java, which received Rp250 million (approximately US$15,000) in APBN funds. The site offers cultural experiences like palm sugar making and has contributed to the local economy since its launch in 2022. The APBN has also supported the construction of major toll roads, including the Batang-Semarang Toll Road, part of the Trans Java network, which enhances regional connectivity and travel efficiency across Batang, Kendal, and Semarang. In addition, the government has invested Rp906.24 billion (US$54.2 million) into the development of the Padang-Sicincin Toll Road in West Sumatra. This 35.9-kilometer road, partially opened to accommodate increased travel during the 2025 Eid al-Fitr season, has cut travel time by around 25 minutes. As a temporary incentive, the toll road is toll-free during the holiday period. These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to using public funds for infrastructure that supports economic growth, regional access, and community development.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/350513/minister-hails-state-budgets-role-in-tourism-toll-road-development?utm_source=Antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=top_news (ICE GIACARTA)
