KAZAKHSTAN-SLOVENIA-SEAPORT-LOGISTICS

Slovenia’s Koper Seaport plans to join TITRKazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Slovenian President Natasa Pirc-Musar discussed on Monday in Astana a possibility of linking Slovenia’s Koper Seaport (Luka Koper) to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the press service of the Kazakh president said in a Monday press release.President of Slovenia Natasa Pirc-Musar arrived in Kazakhstan on Monday, March 31, on an official visit.According to the press release, the presidents of Kazakhstan and Slovenia reached agreement on joining the Koper Seaport to the TITR, and the concerned agencies of two countries were tasked with taking measures to boost mutual trade.In addition, Kazakhstan is interested in Slovenia’s expertise in water management and is ready for cooperation in this area, according to the press release.Furthermore, Tokayev and Pirc-Musar reached agreement on joint projects in such sectors as mining, green energy, atomic energy, digitalization and innovation, healthcare and tourism."To effectively realize the existing opportunities, I suggest intensifying the work of the Intergovernmental Commission and elevating its activities to a new level. One of the priority tasks is to expand contacts between the business communities of our countries. We also discussed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Slovenia Business Council," Tokayev is quoted as saying.The Koper Seaport (Luka Koper) is located in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, connecting the markets of Central and Southeastern Europe with the Mediterranean and the Far East.The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is an international transport corridor that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and further to Turkey and European countries. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is part of the corridor.In 2024, the cargo transportation via TITR rose by 60% to reach 4.5 million tonnes, including 35,600 TEU containers carried between China and Europe, which is a 27-fold rise from the previous year. The guideline for 2025 is 5.2 million tonnes, including 70,000 TEU containers. (ICE ALMATY)
