MEMODO TO DISTRIBUTE MEYER BURGER SOLAR MODULES IN ITALY

Thun/Oberding/Sona - Memodo will in future be distributing Meyer Burger solar modules in Italy. In this context, the Swiss company and the photovoltaics wholesaler based in Bavaria will benefit from the fact that these solar modules for Italian companies are categorized in the highest incentive category. Meyer Burger and the Bavarian wholesaler Memodo have signed a supply contract for the Italian market. According to a press release, Memodo will distribute the solar modules developed by the Swiss company from Thun in the canton of Bern via its Italian branch located in Sona near Verona. The high-performance modules, which carry the certificate of origin “Made in Germany”, were manufactured at the company’s plant in Freiberg, Germany, which was shut down a year ago.Meyer Burger’s modules are the only ones on the market to be allocated to the highest funding category C of a new regulation that offers significant incentives for companies to implement solar projects. This comes as part of the Italian government’s Transizione 5.0 funding program, which is providing companies with a total of 12.7 billion euros to support their digital and energy transformation across 2024 and 2025.This regulation grants users substantial subsidies if they install solar modules such as those from Meyer Burger. To qualify for incentive category C, the modules must meet the following criteria: manufactured in a European Union member state, use of bifacial solar cells also manufactured in the EU, and cell efficiency of at least 24 percent.“This incentive program is very attractive for Italian customers because it not only supports the energy requalification of Italy’s business network but also provides fresh momentum for the EU’s photovoltaic module production, which has suffered greatly from non-European competition”, comments Davide Saba, Managing Director of Memodo Italy.Franz Richter, Executive Chairman of Meyer Burger, is of the same view: “Supporting projects with solar modules from European production strengthens infrastructure and is a positive step toward greater independence in the renewable energy sector” (ICE BERNA)
