KAZAKHSTAN-CHINA-BORDER-CONGESTION

Cargo trucks backlog reported at Kazakhstan-China borderKazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) announced that significant congestion of cargo trucks has formed at checkpoints along the Kazakhstan-China border."Significant congestion of freight vehicles is currently observed at Kazakhstan-China border checkpoints, which is due to several factors," SRC said in a message released on Monday. In a statement, the SRC, part of the Finance Ministry, attributed the backlog to multiple factors, including ongoing road reconstruction and infrastructure modernization in China. These upgrades involve inspection and screening complexes, which have reduced processing capacity at border crossings.Authorities also noted that some trucks arrived ahead of their scheduled electronic queue reservations, exacerbating delays. Additionally, slower clearance procedures by Chinese officials, linked to internal protocols and border operation practices, have contributed to the gridlock. The committee said it is coordinating with Chinese counterparts through regular talks aimed at boosting processing efficiency. It urged transport operators and trade participants to strictly adhere to their assigned electronic queue arrival dates to minimize disruptions. (ICE ALMATY)
