BEPZA TO START ALLOCATING PLOTS IN PATUAKHALI EPZ FROM EARLY 2026:
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) plans to start allocating plots for investors in the Patuakhali Export Processing Zone (EPZ) from early 2026. Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BEPZA's Executive Chairman, stated that land development work is about 55% complete and should finish by June 2026. The EPZ aims to leverage the connectivity of Padma Bridge and Payra Port to facilitate easier access to imported raw materials and exports. Covering 410.78 acres in Pachakoralia Mouza, the Patuakhali EPZ will feature 306 industrial plots and is expected to create jobs for around 100,000 people. The project, costing Tk1,443 crores, includes infrastructure such as roads, drainage, factory buildings, office buildings, residential units, and power substations. Currently, there are eight EPZs in Bangladesh, including the Chittagong and Dhaka EPZs. (ICE NEW DELHI)
