NRB Bearings Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of needle roller bearings and mobility solutions, has announced a substantial ₹200 crore investment in capacity expansion over the next two years. This strategic move aims to support a significant pipeline of lifetime nominated business, totaling ₹600 crore, secured from major European Tier 1 customers. The expansion will cater to the next-generation vehicle platforms of automotive giants BMW, Stellantis, and Renault, encompassing their electric vehicle (EV), hybrid, and internal combustion engine (ICE) models.The company has been selected by Magna and other key European clients for advanced programs spanning hybrid, electric, and ICE powertrains for BMW, Stellantis, and Renault. These nominations cover all models within the OEMs' upcoming common platforms, highlighting NRB's capability to meet the diverse and evolving needs of the automotive industry. NRB's advanced bearing solutions have been co-developed in close collaboration with these OEMs to fulfill the stringent technical requirements of their future-ready platforms.The ₹200 crore capital expenditure will be directed towards expanding and upgrading NRB's manufacturing capabilities and research & development (R&D) facilities. Specifically, the investment will enhance capacities for Cylindrical Roller Bearings, Needle Roller Bearings, Thrust and Combination Bearings, and Taper Roller Bearings. Furthermore, the capex will fund upgrades in heat treatment processes, infrastructure development, and downstream integration to optimize efficiency and scalability.In addition to this significant expansion, NRB Bearings continues to strengthen its foothold in the burgeoning EV and hybrid vehicle segment. The company has secured additional lifetime business worth ₹12 crore for the next-generation E-Drive platforms of premium all-electric vehicles from BMW, Stellantis, Renault, and Mercedes-Benz.
