INDONESIA TO DOWNSTREAM 28 STRATEGIC COMMODITIES WITH BIG INVESTMENT VALUE
Indonesia is heavily relying on downstream processing (hilirisasi) to attract investment, with the government prioritizing 28 strategic commodities across sectors like minerals, coal, oil and gas, forestry, and fisheries. According to Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Todotua Pasaribu, these commodities were chosen due to their substantial resource reserves and hold an investment potential of US$ 618 billion (IDR 10,382 trillion). While the focus remains on these key areas, other commodities are not being neglected. The breakdown includes US$ 498.4 billion for minerals and coal, US$ 68.3 billion for oil and gas, and US$ 51.3 billion for agriculture, marine, and forestry sectors, with the entire initiative expected to generate 3 million jobs. Reflecting its commitment, the government has even renamed the Ministry to include “Downstreaming” to signal its serious intent.Source: https://finance.detik.com/industri/d-7889681/ri-mau-hilirisasi-28-komoditas-strategis-nilai-investasi-tembus-rp-10-kuadriliun (ICE GIACARTA)
