INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT AIMS TO MAKE INDONESIA HALAL INDUSTRY LEADER
Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry is striving to position the country as the world’s leading producer of halal products, citing the sector’s strong potential with export transactions reaching US$64.11 billion in 2024. Deputy Minister Faisol Riza stressed the importance of strengthening the entire halal ecosystem as a strategic necessity. According to the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2023/2024, Indonesia has improved its global standing, now ranking third behind Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. However, challenges remain in boosting the halal pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors, where Indonesia still lags behind non-Muslim-majority countries. A key issue is the lack of strong global branding for Indonesian halal products, especially as countries like Australia and China have secured dominant positions in the halal beef and Muslim fashion markets through strategic marketing. To address this and enhance Indonesia’s global visibility, the Ministry will host the Halal Indonesia International Industry Expo (Halal Indo) 2025 from September 25–28 in Tangerang, Banten. The previous year's event drew over 12,000 visitors and generated significant business interest, underlining the growing momentum behind Indonesia’s halal industry ambitions.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/353261/government-aims-to-make-indonesia-halal-industry-leader (ICE GIACARTA)
