Output of motor vehicles in Kazakhstan in Q1 edged up 0.5%Kazakhstan's carmakers produced 33,176 vehicles in January-March 2025, which is an increase of 0.5% year over year, the Kazakhstan Automotive Union said in a Tuesday press release.In the first quarter of 2024, Kazakhstan produced 33,021 vehicles.In March 2025 the republic produced 12,289 motor vehicles for a total value of 164.1 billion tenge compared with 10,448 vehicles worth 126.1 billion tenge in the same month of the previous year, which demonstrates an increase of 17.6%. The car-making sector’s share in the country’s mechanical engineering industry accounted for 38.4% in March 2025.Of all vehicles produced in January-March of this year, as many as 18,049 vehicles were produced in Kostanay by Allur (down 13.1%); 12,943 light-duty cars and commercial vehicles were assembled in Almaty by Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan and Hyundai Trans Auto (up 29.1%); 620 commercial vehicles in Semey by SemAZ and Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan (down 42.1%); 376 in the Karaganda region by QazTehna (up 12.2%); and 263 commercial vehicles in Kokshetau by KAMAZ-Engineering (up 4.8%). The other carmakers produced 925 vehicles.The five most popular light-duty cars that were assembled in January-March 2025 were Hyundai (12,806 cars), Chevrolet (7,657), Kia (5,609), Jetour (2,437) and Jac (1,696).This year, two new assembly plants will be opened in Almaty and Kostanai, said Anar Makasheva, the president of the Automotive Union.The Kazakhstan Automotive Union, established on July 21, 2023, in Astana, is a non-commercial organization comprising the Association of Automobile Manufacturers of Kazakhstan, the Association of Auto Components Manufacturers of Kazakhstan, the Association of Public Transport of Kazakhstan, the Association of Importers of Kazakhstan, the Association of Dealers of Kazakhstan, the Association of Used Car Sales of Kazakhstan, and the Association of Auto Experts and Auditors of Kazakhstan (product compliance evaluation in the automotive industry).
