Chinese chemical company Sichuan Golden-Elephant Sincerity Chemical Co., Ltd. (GESC) will invest US$600 million to build a chemical manufacturing plant at the Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate (JIIPE), a special economic zone (SEZ) located in Gresik, East Java. The plant, which will sit on more than 20 hectares of land, will supply both the domestic and export markets. Construction will be done in two phases, beginning with a 1.24-billion-yuan (US$170.1 million) facility that will produce 120,000 tonnes of melamine, 150,000 tonnes of nitric acid and 200,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate per year.
