Turkiye’s TAV Holding to invest $362 mln in Almaty airport development in 2025-2029TAV Holdin, the owner of Almaty International Airport, will invest $362 million in the airport’s development between 2025 and 2029, the press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport said in a statement Tuesday.The Ministry of Transport and Almaty International Airport JSC have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the purpose of future investment. The document also outlines key measures as necessary to support further development of the airport, according to the statement."These funds [$362 million] will be used to upgrade the runway, build a new apron for cargo carriers, renovate the domestic terminal, modernize and digitize the existing cargo warehouses, construct a hotel near the airport, and implement other improvements to enhance the operations of the airport," the statement says.The ministry said that the signed agreement prioritizes improving working conditions for the airport employees.The corporate initiatives to be implemented by the investor include the following: to increase by 25% the average salary for staff within 12 months; to establish a medical center for the airport employees and nearby residents; to create at least 600 new jobs at the airport this year; to launch a specialized training center accredited by the Airports Council International (ACI).TAV Holding owns 78,400 shares of Almaty International Airport JSC, representing 100% of its issued common shares.
