PLN IP SECURES GREEN FINANCING FOR SAGULING FLOATING SOLAR POWER PLANT PROJECT
PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) has secured green financing from French institution Proparco and Standard Chartered Bank to support the development of the 92 MWp Saguling Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS). The funding agreement, signed by the joint venture PT Indonesia ACWA Tenaga Saguling (formed by PLN IP and ACWA Power), also involves DEG from Germany. This international collaboration aims to fund the construction, development, and operation of the floating solar plant, reflecting a significant step toward clean energy. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized the project as a symbol of cooperation between the Indonesian government, global partners, and the private sector to accelerate the country’s energy transition. PLN IP President Director Edwin Nugraha Putra highlighted that the Saguling PLTS will increase Indonesia’s solar power generation by approximately 13%, tapping into the country’s vast solar potential of 3,295 GW. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by at least 63,100 tons annually, contributing significantly to Indonesia’s efforts to decarbonize its electricity system. Edwin stressed that the plant's operation would mark a major milestone in boosting renewable energy use and promoting sustainable economic growth.Source: https://katadata.co.id/ekonomi-hijau/investasi-hijau/681b762235222/pln-ip-sepakati-pendanaan-hijau-untuk-bangun-plts-terapung-saguling (ICE GIACARTA)
