TOLL PROPOSED FOR BẾN LỨC – LONG THÀNH EXPRESSWAY
Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) has proposed a toll fee of VNĐ2,000 per kilometre on the nearly 58km Bến Lức – Long Thành Expressway to recover investment costs and ensure sustainable operations. As of April 2025, 28km of the expressway is open, with full completion expected by 2026. VEC also proposed a 12% toll increase every three years, citing the need to repay ODA loans and fund high maintenance for complex infrastructure like river overpasses. The toll rate aligns with other southern expressways, such as the HCM City – Long Thành – Dầu Giây (VNĐ2,100/km) and Trung Lương – Mỹ Thuận (VNĐ2,000/km). Started in 2014, the expressway is a strategic link between the Southeast and Southwest regions, improving access to Long Thành International Airport and key industrial zones. The investment cost has been revised from VNĐ31.3 trillion to VNĐ29.5 trillion. The route includes four traffic lanes, two emergency lanes, and supports speeds up to 100km/h. Delays have occurred due to policy and funding issues. The Ministry of Construction is reviewing the toll proposal, with toll collection to begin after government approval. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
