KAZAKHSTAN-ASTANA-WATER/PIPELINE

Industry Ministry carries out three projects worth 70 bln tenge to prevent water shortages in AstanaKazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Construction is implementing three projects to build pumping and filtration stations and water pipelines to prevent water shortages in Astana, Deputy Minister Kuandyk Kazhkenov said."The first project involves the construction of Pumping and Filtration Station No. 4 and the Satpayev Water Pipeline. Design and estimate documentation is now under development. Once completed, it will provide 200,000 cubic meters of drinking water per day to the households," Kazhkenov said during the “government hour” meeting in the Majilis, the lower house of the parliament. The second project is for the construction of a water pipeline from the Nurinsk underground water source, which will supply additional 38,000 cubic meters of water per day."The design and estimate documentation for this project is already complete. The estimated cost is around 56 billion tenge," he said. The third project is aimed at the construction of a technical water pipeline from the Telman Pumping Station, with a cost of 17.6 billion tenge."This year, about 3.2 billion tenge will be allocated from the local budget. All these measures will ensure a reliable supply of water to the capital and will prevent any shortages of water in the future, which is very important as the city is expanding rapidly," Kazhkenov said.He reminded that Astana faced water shortages in the summer of 2023. In order to prevent such a situation in the future, the city authorities put into operation Pumping and Filtration Station No. 3 at the end of 2023."Current daily water consumption stands at 350,000 cubic meters, while the combined capacity of the three filtration stations is 410,000 cubic meters. This means that there is no shortage at the moment, taking into account the development rate of the city," the deputy minister said.Astana’s population is over 1 million people. (ICE ALMATY)
