INDONESIA COMMITTED TO PROMOTING THE ASEAN TRADE IN GOODS AGREEMENT UPGRADE
Indonesian Deputy Minister of Trade, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, has emphasized the importance of the inclusive and simultaneous implementation of the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) Upgrade across all member states. During an online meeting of the ATIGA Trade Negotiating Committee, she highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to ensuring that the ATIGA Upgrade is accessible to all ASEAN countries and aligned with the agreed provisions. Putri noted that the drafting process is nearly complete, with 15 out of 17 chapters finalized, and urged all parties to finalize negotiations in time for the ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting in September. The ATIGA Upgrade aims to modernize the framework to better support businesses and address regional and global challenges. New chapters focus on topics such as trade and the environment, circular economy, supply chain connectivity, and the role of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The agreement is expected to be signed at the 47th ASEAN Summit in October or November 2025.Source:https://en.vietnamplus.vn/indonesia-committed-to-promoting-atiga-upgrade-post319066.vnp (ICE GIACARTA)
