Kazakhstan creates Korkyt Ata special economic zone in Kyzylorda regionKazakhstan has launched a new special economic zone (SEZ) called Korkyt Ata in the Kyzylorda region, the government press service said in a Monday statement.The Korkyt Ata SEZ, spanning 500 ha, lies near Western Europe-Western China international transport corridor."The zone is designed to foster the rapid development of modern, high-efficiency and competitive industries, improve service standards, attract investment, introduce new technologies and boost employment. Its proximity to the Western Europe-Western China transport corridor will facilitate efficient distribution of goods in Kazakhstan and Central Asian markets," the statement says.The SEZ will operate under a special legal regime, offering tax and customs incentives.According to the statement, total investment in the zone will exceed 150 billion tenge by 2049, including 80 billion tenge in foreign investment. Annual production of goods and services is projected to total 500 billion tenge in value, and the local content will make up 90%. (ICE ALMATY)
