HCM CITY TO REVIEW SHORT-TERM APARTMENT RENTAL REGULATIONS
HCM City is reviewing its recent ban on short-term apartment rentals, including platforms like Airbnb, after concerns arose from homeowners who depend on rental income. The Ministry of Construction is working on regulatory changes, prompted by the Ministry of Justice's observation that banning short-term rentals contradicts the 2023 Housing Law, which allows residential use. The Justice Department suggests managing rather than banning such rentals by requiring homeowner registration and safety compliance. While the ban was initially introduced to address resident complaints about disruptions, many apartment owners argue that short-term rentals benefit tourism and the local economy, generating monthly incomes between VNĐ15 million and VNĐ60 million.
