Kazakhstan to introduce toll fees on over 6,000 km of highways in 2025Kazakhstan plans to introduce tolls on an additional 29 highway sections spanning 6,200 km this year, Transport Minister Marat Karabayev announced during a government session in the Senate."This year, as repair works are completed, we intend to implement tolls on 29 additional sections totaling 6,200 kilometers," Karabayev said.He explained that the introduction of toll roads is part of a phased transition toward making road infrastructure self-sustaining. Currently, 17 toll sections covering 3,200 km are operational in the country, with toll revenues reaching 48 billion tenge last year."We expect that after expanding the toll road network, revenue will exceed 100 billion tenge," he added.Authorities are also considering using toll income to fund road maintenance, equipment purchases, and interest payments on borrowed funds.
