RETAIL SALES INCREASED BY IMPRESSIVE 7.6 PERCENT LAST MONTH
According to Statistics Poland (GUS), retail sales last month increased by 7.6 percent year-on-year, recording the highest growth in three years. The results were significantly better than the average of the economists forecasts (3.5 percent). What is more, the retail sales growth rate came out positive year-on-year for the first time since January. In January-April 2025, sales grew by 3.3 percent year-on-year (compared to an increase of 5 percent in the same period of 2024). According to the economists, private consumption is expected to be the main engine of Poland's economic growth in 2025, next to investment. A general forecast is that it should grow by around 3 percent this year. (ICE VARSAVIA)
