Kazakhstan to spend nearly 90 bln tenge on heating network modernization in 2025As much as 89.7 billion tenge has been allocated in Kazakhstan for major repairs and modernization of heating networks this year, Deputy Minister of Energy Sungat Yesimkhanov said."Investments totaling 89.7 billion tenge have been earmarked for major repairs and modernization of 323 km of heating networks in 2025. This includes 75.7 billion tenge from the government budget and 14 billion tenge from utility companies’ tariff funds," Yesimkhanov said during a government meeting on Tuesday.At the moment, there are 56 heating network modernization projects that need to be carried out, which will require a total investment of 103.3 billion tenge, according to Yesimkhanov.The deputy minister said that this year the government aims to reduce the wear and tear of utility infrastructure to an average of 40%. The existing modernization program includes 46 power supply companies and 28 heat supply enterprises.In 2024, funding for repairs and modernization of power plants increased by 44% to reach 327 billion tenge, according to information provided by the Energy Ministry. Last year saw repair work completed on 10 power generation units, 55 boilers and 45 turbines. Additionally, as many as 21,000 km of overhead lines were serviced, 423 power substations modernized and 542 km of heating line repaired and replaced. (ICE ALMATY)
