PARSONS NAMED DELIVERY PARTNER FOR FUTURISTIC KING SALMAN AIRPORT IN SAUDI
Parsons corporation has been appointed as a Delivery Partner for the transformative King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, marking a major milestone in the project’s multi-year development. The announcement was made during the Saudi-US Investment Forum in the capital. Awarded by the King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC), a wholly owned entity of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), the contracts cover two critical scopes. The first encompasses airfield assets — including runways, taxiways, aircraft parking, and air traffic control towers — while the second focuses on landside infrastructure such as roads, tunnels, utilities, rail networks, bridges, and landscaping. Parsons will provide comprehensive project management services across both packages, covering all phases from early development to commissioning and handover. “Parsons is proud to expand our legacy in the Kingdom, which dates back to the Dhahran Airport in 1958,” said Carey Smith, Chair, President, and CEO of Parsons. “We’re honored to support KSIADC’s bold vision of creating the world’s premier logistics hub and redefining the airport experience.” Marco Mejia, Acting CEO of KSIADC, emphasised the importance of the appointment: “Selecting Parsons as a Delivery Partner is a strategic step in delivering a world-class airport built on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.” The King Salman International Airport will span 57 square kilometres and is designed to become one of the largest aviation hubs globally. Upon completion, it will feature six parallel runways and is expected to handle up to 120 million passengers by 2030 — rising to 185 million passengers and 3.5 million tons of cargo annually by 2050. Parsons has been actively involved in Saudi Arabia’s ambitious infrastructure transformation since 2017, with projects including THE LINE, Oxagon, and various ROSHN developments. Globally, the company has worked on more than 450 airports across 40 countries, including major terminals in the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait. (ICE RIYADH)
