MARITIME SECTOR ANCHORS 7 PERCENT OF INDONESIA'S GDP

The maritime sector is a cornerstone of Indonesia's economy, contributing around 7% to the national GDP, according to Antoni Arif Priadi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transportation. Speaking at Indonesia Maritime Week 2025, Priadi highlighted Indonesia’s strategic location along major global sea lanes, positioning the country as a key player in maritime logistics and international trade. He emphasized that enhancing maritime capabilities is essential to achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision and leveraging the nation's status as the world’s third-largest supplier of merchant shipping resources. To unlock this potential, the government is focused on improving maritime infrastructure, expanding shipping routes, adopting digital systems, and promoting sustainable marine management. These initiatives are closely aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, which centers maritime development within the broader national economic strategy. Efforts such as the creation of 107 pioneering shipping routes aim to connect remote regions, foster inclusive economic growth, and strengthen Indonesia’s role as a maritime and logistics hub in Asia.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/356613/maritime-sector-anchors-7-percent-of-indonesias-gdp-says-official  (ICE GIACARTA)
