Kazakhstan exports 8.2 mln tonnes of grain from 2024 harvestKazakhstan exported 8.2 million tonnes of grain from the 2024 harvest as of May 25, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.From September 2024 to May 25, 2025, exports of grain from the previous year’s harvest totaled 8.2 million tonnes, which is a 58.1% increase compared to the same period in the previous marketing year.Key export destinations include traditional markets such as Uzbekistan (2.9 million tonnes, up 30.3%), Tajikistan (1.1 million tonnes, up 47.7%), Afghanistan (274,000 tonnes, up 31.7%) and Kyrgyzstan (192,000 tonnes, up 70%). Shipments to Iran surged to 951,000 tonnes (a 17.3-fold rise), while exports to Azerbaijan jumped to 632,000 tonnes (a 126.4-fold increase).The Agriculture Ministry noted that the significant growth in exports reflects strong international demand for Kazakh grain. It also highlights the effectiveness of Kazakhstan’s efforts to expand supply routes and improve logistics infrastructure.In 2024, Kazakhstan harvested a record 26 million tonnes of grain. The Ministry of Trade estimates the export potential for the previous year’s harvest at 12 million tonnes. (ICE ALMATY)
