Kazakh President discusses energy, trade with UAE MinisterKazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with UAE Energy Minister Suhail Al Mazrouei on Wednesday to discuss industrial cooperation and the implementation of previously agreed deals, the presidential press service said.The talks, held on the sidelines of the Astana International Forum, focused on boosting bilateral trade to $1 billion and advancing joint projects in energy, agriculture and transportation. "The UAE has already begun fulfilling agreements signed during Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s recent visit to Kazakhstan," Al Mazrouei said.Tokayev recalled his "productive" meeting with the crown prince earlier this month, which resulted in over 20 commercial deals worth $5 billion.The signed agreements include a deal between Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna and UAE’s Masdar to develop 500 MW of continuous power supply and a 2,000 MW energy storage system in Kazakhstan. Samruk-Kazyna also partnered with AIQ on digital transformation in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas sector, while the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry agreed with Presight to establish a supercomputer cluster in Kazakhstan. Additionally, KazMunayGas and Abu Dhabi Ports Group signed a protocol on expanding the merchant fleet, and QazaqGaz struck a strategic cooperation agreement with AIQ on digitalization in the oil and gas industry. Another agreement involves investments in Astana’s international airport and surrounding infrastructure between Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry and Terminals Astana Airport Limited. (ICE ALMATY)
