KUWAIT TENDERS THREE UPSTREAM OIL CONTRACTS

State-owned upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has tendered three contracts that are due to have bids submitted later this year, according to information released by the country’s Central Agency for Public Tenders. The first is for the design, construction and delivery of oil-skimming vessels.Oil skimmers are devices for recovering spilled oil from the surface of water, usually the sea.Skimmers can be self-propelled, used from shore or operated from vessels – and their efficiency is usually dependent on sea conditions, with rough water disrupting their ability to gather oil.Kuwait has launched several large environmental projects in recent years to try to clean up oil contamination on land. The biggest of these is the multibillion-dollar Kuwait Environmental Remediation Programme (Kerp).Kerp is the largest environmental remediation project in the world and was established by the UN Compensation Commission to allow Kuwait to address the ecological damage resulting from the 1990-91 Gulf War.The invitation to bid for the oil-skimming contract was issued on 18 May and bids are due on 17 August 2025. A pre-tender meeting is due to take place on 17 June. The second contract tendered by KOC is for maintenance services for the roads that connect KOC oil fields in the north and west of Kuwait. The invitation to bid for this contract was also issued on 18 May, with bids due on 17 August 2025. The pre-tender meeting for this contract will take place on 16 June. The third contract tendered is due to have bids submitted on 27 July and the scope is focused on manifolds and group trunklines in the north Kuwait area.
