Kazakhstan сuts drug approval times to 100 days in pilot projectKazakhstan has launched a pilot project to introduce a new one-stop approval system for medicines and medical devices that will cut registration times from up to five years to just 100 days, the health ministry announced Tuesday., Deputy Health Minister Yerzhan Nurlybayev announced on Tuesday."The initiative, part of a joint effort with the Ministry of Digital Development, aims to accelerate the availability of advanced medicines by optimizing bureaucratic processes. This one-stop service will allow for completing drug registrations within 100 days," he said.Nurlybayev said the previous registration system was cumbersome, often taking one to five years.Pharmaceuticals from the EU, U.S., U.K. and Japan will qualify for even faster 15-day approvals under the new framework. The changes come alongside a major overhaul of drug pricing policies. "The government has eliminated multiple "unjustified" price markups, including marketing, transport and customs fees. All medications registered in Kazakhstan will be repriced by July 1, with expected savings of 19% for state healthcare programs and 30% for retail consumers," Nurlybayev said. (ICE ALMATY)
