KUWAITI CONTRACTOR SUBMITS LOWEST OIL PUMP PROJECT BID

Kuwait-based contractor Mechanical Engineering & Contracting Company (MECC) has submitted the lowest bid for a project to install injection pumps at a central injection pumping facility (CIPF).The client on the project is state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).MECC’s bid of $70m came in lower than the two other domestic contractors that participated in the tender.The full list of bidders is:MECC – $70mHeavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company (Heisco) – $73mAlghanim International General Trading & Contracting Company – $76mThe project’s scope includes:Construction of injection plantInstallation of injection pumpsInstallation of instrument control systemInstallation of chemical injection pumpsInstallation of cylindrical rotor centrifugesInstallation of deep well water pumpsConstruction of storage tankInstallation of safety and security systemsAssociated facilitiesKuwait is currently in the midst of a drive to increase upstream oil and gas production.In January 2024, Khaled Al-Sabah, the chief executive of the national oil company Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), unveiled a $30bn investment plan aimed at boosting the country’s oil production capacity by 40%.The target is to increase output from 2.8 million barrels a day (b/d) to 4 million b/d by 2040.
