PHILIPPINES (PH) DROPPED FROM EU DIRTY MONEY LIST

THE European Commission has removed the Philippines from a list of high-risk jurisdictions with strategic deficiencies in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) following the country's exit from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) gray list earlier this year. The list, mandated under Article 9 of the EU's 4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive, identifies countries that pose significant threats to the financial system due to AML/CFT deficiencies. EU financial entities are required to apply enhanced due diligence measures when dealing with listed countries. Alongside the Philippines, seven other jurisdictions — Barbados, Gibraltar, Jamaica, Panama, Senegal, Uganda and the United Arab Emirates — were removed, while 10 countries, including Kenya, Venezuela, Laos and Monaco, were added to the high-risk category. The European Commission emphasized that the updated list reflected global standards set by the FATF. https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/06/12/business/top-business/ph-dropped-from-eu-dirty-money-list/2131718 (ICE SINGAPORE)
