DANANTARA, INA INVEST IN CHANDRA ASRI'S US$800 MILLION CHEMICAL PLANT

Indonesia’s sovereign wealth funds, Danantara and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), are planning to invest in Chandra Asri Pacific’s US$800 million chlor-alkali and ethylene dichloride (CA-EDC) plant, aiming to bolster national industrial resilience and reduce reliance on imported chemicals. Operated by Chandra Asri Alkali, the facility will produce 400,000 tons of solid caustic soda and 500,000 tons of ethylene dichloride annually, with a portion set for export, potentially earning up to IDR5 trillion in foreign exchange per year. The project aligns with Indonesia’s strategic development priorities in energy transition and advanced manufacturing, especially in industries like nickel processing and alumina refining. Danantara’s Chief Investment Officer, Pandu Sjahrir, emphasized that the investment strengthens domestic supply chains and invites global partners to participate in building a high-value industrial ecosystem. The plant is currently under construction, with future plans for expansion and downstream integration.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/danantara-ina-invest-in-chandra-asris-800m-chemical-plant (ICE GIACARTA)
