Michał Orłowski, vice-president of TAURON Group's management board for asset management and development, says in an interview that onshore wind power is an important element of Tauron's strategy. The company believes that it is onshore that is most needed for the whole system in Poland. "We already have so much photovoltaic capacity installed in Poland that theoretically it is able to cover the entire energy demand. At times there is simply too much of this energy. Therefore the key criteria is to select energy sources that will allow green energy to be supplied when photovoltaics cannot produce it. Onshore wind energy fits into these criteria, and in addition we consider it to be a more economical source of power generation than offshore wind energy. This is why we are targeting dynamic growth in this area in our strategy, from around 540 MW today to 1,500 MW in 2030," he says. (ICE VARSAVIA)
