KAZAKHSTAN-TENGE-EDB-OUTLOOK
Eurasian Development Bank forecasts tenge at 515/$1 by end of 2025The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) projects Kazakhstan's tenge will weaken to 515 per U.S. dollar by the end of 2025, EDB analyst Aigul Berdigulova announced Monday. The tenge will likely weaken further to average 536 against the U.S. dollar throughout 2026-2027, Berdigulova said while presenting the international financial institution's analytical report.Berdigulova identified multiple pressures on the currency: declining global oil prices, increased oil exports, mandatory 50% foreign currency sales by quasi-state enterprises, National Fund transfers for budget purposes, and Kazakhstan's elevated base interest rate. The tenge traded at 523.46/$1 in official exchange rate data released Monday.
