Vietnam Economic Report 2025: OECD’s Sustainable Growth Roadmap – Summary (200 words)On June 20, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and the OECD launched the Vietnam Economic Report 2025 in Hanoi, highlighting Vietnam’s strong economic performance and ambitious growth strategy. The event gathered diplomats, OECD officials, and leaders from Vietnamese ministries and corporations.The report, part of the OECD-Vietnam Action Plan (2022–2026), sets out a roadmap for sustainable, inclusive development. Vietnam aims to surpass 8% growth in 2025 and reach double-digit levels, leveraging exports, investment, digital transformation, green development, and innovation.OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann praised Vietnam’s economic progress, with GDP per capita increasing 5.7 times since 1990. Chief Economist Alvaro Pereira emphasized trade and foreign investment as key drivers and stressed the need for a low-carbon economy.Key recommendations include broadening the tax base, ensuring monetary and fiscal stability, boosting education and healthcare, integrating the informal labor market, and strengthening social safety nets. It also calls for improved intellectual property protection, clean energy development, and high-quality investment attraction.A panel session discussed harnessing trade and investment to enhance productivity and governance.
