REGOLAMENTATO COMMERCIO OLIO DI PALMA
Accra – Ghana’s Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) has announced a new regulatory framework requiring all importers of palm oil products to register and obtain a permit before engaging in any import activities. The directive, which will come into force on 14 July 2025, is part of a broader movement to rehabilitate the sector and promote sustainable growth in Ghana’s palm oil sector.A statement issued by the Authority said the regulation will specifically apply to imports of crude palm oil, crude palm olein and refined palm olein (vegetable oil). The measure requires all importers, processors and traders operating in the palm oil value chain to be registered and licensed under the provisions of the Tree Crops Development Authority Act, 2019 (Act No. 1010) and LI 2471.The Authority stressed that the unregulated influx of palm oil into the country has posed significant challenges to local industry operators, particularly smallholder farmers and processors, through market distortions and the circulation of substandard products.
