Kazakh Energy Ministry, China's Huawei sign power system digitalization memorandumThe Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and Huawei have signed a memorandum on power system digitalization during the first regional energy forum Power Central Asia- China 2025, the ministry's press service reported.The memorandum aims for the digital transformation of the energy sector and strengthening its cybersecurity, the statement says."The document provides for the implementation of joint innovative digitalization projects in the oil and gas, mining, and electric power industries of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties intend to apply artificial intelligence and big data technologies to enhance the energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, and reliability of the energy system," the press release states.The ministry also reported that the development of next-generation telecommunications and cloud infrastructure, the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, cybersecurity, and digital twins for facilities are planned.Special attention is paid to Grid-Forming energy storage system projects: Huawei will offer its expertise and technologies for the effective deployment of these innovative solutions.Furthermore, as part of the agreement's implementation, the parties will establish a joint working group under the Ministry of Energy's digital transformation office.The parties emphasize that the memorandum creates a foundation for accelerating the digital transformation of the country's energy industry. Joint initiatives will enable the implementation of international best practices adapted to Kazakhstan's energy system.
