Industrial turnover was 3.9 % higher in May than a year earlier. Sales of the construction industry fell by 2.9 % compared to the previous May. In both cases, the data were weaker than forecast as the economists expected the industry to grow above 4 %. In the construction industry they forecast the fall but around 2.5 %. Analysts pay great attention to wage data, as the dynamics of wages will determine the demand pressure and thus inflation. In May we saw a slowdown in wages again. The average wage in companies employing at least 10 people was PLN8670.51, nominally 8.4 % higher than a year earlier. (ICE VARSAVIA)
