After a surprise in April, the wage growth in companies slowed down in May. The employment dynamics also surprised and there was no breakthrough in data from industry and construction. According to data from Statistics Poland (GUS), the average gross salary in the enterprise sector rose in May by 8.4 % year-on-year and amounted to PLN8670.51. This is below an average forecast by economists (8.9 %). On the negative side, employment in the business sector surprised in May, falling by 0.8 % year-on-year. (below the average forecast of - 0.7  %), to 6 million 433.3 thousand full-time jobs. Nominally, this represents a decline of more than 54,000 full-time jobs. The month-on-month dynamics look weak, as average employment fell by 13.5k full-time jobs compared to April. (ICE VARSAVIA)
