INDONESIA’S PALM OIL EXPORT DROPS 39% AS EU BUYS LESS

Indonesia’s palm oil exports plummeted by nearly 40% in April 2025, primarily due to a sharp decline in demand from the European Union amid ongoing concerns over deforestation and the EU’s forthcoming EUDR policy. Total exports fell to 1.78 million tons, with processed palm oil experiencing the steepest drop. Despite the volume slump, export value rose over 30% year-on-year, thanks to higher crude palm oil prices. While overall exports for January–April dipped slightly by volume, Indonesia’s revenue surged to nearly $10.82 billion. The government continues to negotiate special terms with the EU as it seeks to preserve market access amid tightening sustainability standards.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesias-palm-oil-export-drops-39-pct-as-eu-buys-less (ICE GIACARTA)
