Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has signed a AED752 million (US$205 million) agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) to expand the GCC power grid’s connection with the UAE’s national grid. The project aims to enhance regional energy security, improve electricity exchange, and support the UAE Energy Strategy 2050. It includes building a 96 km, 400kV transmission line between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, upgrading three substations, and installing advanced grid systems.
