The UAE's tourism sector hit a record $70.1 billion in 2024, contributing 13% of national GDP, and ranking the UAE among the top seven global destinations for international tourist spending. The growth was driven by strong international visitor spending ($59.2bn) and a surge in domestic tourism ($15.7bn). This marks a 26% increase from pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Leisure tourism accounted for nearly 85% of total spending, with key source markets including India, the UK, Russia, China, and Saudi Arabia. The sector also generated $8.6bn in tax revenues, supported environmental goals, and created jobs for women and youth. Officials credited the success to strategic investments and policies aligned with the UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, which aims to boost the sector’s GDP contribution to $121.5bn and attract 40 million hotel guests annually by the next decade.   (ICE DUBAI)
