In a historic milestone for regional integration, Istanbul on Saturday marked the launch of the first direct land shipment from Europe to Jordan via the “Development Road” passing through Turkey and Iraq. This breakthrough follows a 14-year pause caused by the security situation in Syria. The announcement was made during a special ceremony held on the sidelines of the "Global Transport Corridors" Forum at the Istanbul Congress Center. Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu highlighted that this route aims to enhance intercontinental trade, describing the arrival of trucks in Jordan via Iraq as “the first stage of a larger project that will connect the region to new markets.” Oğlu noted that the truck, traveling from Germany and carrying a variety of goods, will reach Jordan via the Turkey-Iraq corridor, marking the first direct land shipment between Europe and Jordan since 2010.
