NGUYEN VAN DUOC APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF NEW HCMC

On June 30, Nguyen Van Duoc was officially appointed Chairman of the People’s Committee of the newly restructured Ho Chi Minh City, as part of Vietnam’s nationwide administrative reform. The ceremony, attended by the city's key political bodies, also introduced six deputy chairpersons: Nguyen Loc Ha, Nguyen Van Tho, Nguyen Van Dung, Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Bui Xuan Cuong, and Bui Minh Thanh. This leadership reshuffle follows the government’s major restructuring initiative to streamline governance by merging provincial and commune-level units and eliminating district-level structures. Duoc, a member of the Party Central Committee since 2021, previously held several key roles in Long An Province, including Party Secretary and Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Since February 2025, he has served as Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee. The city also announced the formation of new Party and government structures at local levels to align with the new two-tier model. (ICE HO CHI MINH CITY)
