Kazakhstan's banking sector sees modest growth in May, Kapsi Bank leadsKazakhstan's banking sector reported a 0.8% monthly increase in total deposits to 43.41 trillion tenge in May 2025, despite outflows at ten financial institutions.While corporate deposits grew by 104.8 billion tenge and retail savings rose by 247.7 billion tenge, Citibank Kazakhstan and Bereke Bank led decliners with outflows of 55.48 billion and 47 billion tenge, respectively.Kaspi Bank dominated growth, adding 159.47 billion tenge to reach 6.95 trillion tenge in deposits. Other top performers included Bank CenterCredit (72.35 billion tenge increase to 5.19 trillion tenge) and Halyk Bank (69.48 billion tenge growth to 13.29 trillion tenge).  ForteBank saw an increase of 63.6 billion tenge, reaching 3.19 trillion tenge, Otbasy Bank added 55.4 billion tenge, reaching 2.87 trillion tenge, Bank RBK increased by 4.15 billion tenge to 1.56 trillion tenge, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Almaty) reached 333.2 billion tenge with an increase of 31.95 billion tenge, while Freedom Bank Kazakhstan added 28.23 billion tenge to reach 1.16 trillion tenge, Home Credit Bank's added 21.9 billion tenge to reach 571.7 billion tenge, and Kazakhstan Ziraat International Bank added 8.3 billion tenge to reach 154.3 billion tenge.The monthly reshuffle saw China Bank in Kazakhstan, Citibank Kazakhstan, Altyn Bank and Alatau City Bank drop out of the top 10 by annual comparison, replaced by Bank RBK and Kazakhstan-Ziraat International Bank.The ten banks experienced outflows with Citibank Kazakhstan (55.48 billion tenge), Bereke Bank (47 billion tenge), and Altyn Bank (40.05 billion tenge). Eurasian Bank saw a decrease of 20.35 billion tenge, Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan decreased by 13.76 billion tenge, and Bank of China Kazakhstan saw a decrease of 11.65 billion tenge. Islamic bank ADCB's deposits decreased by 4.83 billion tenge, Nurbank by 4.78 billion tenge, VTB Bank by 4 billion tenge, and Zaman Bank by 2.42 billion tenge. (ICE ALMATY)
