Jordan’s tourism sector recorded a significant upswing in the first half of 2025, with a notable increase in visitor numbers, tourism revenues, and activity across major destinations such as the Dead Sea and Petra.According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, 3.29 million people visited the Kingdom between January and June 2025, an 18 per cent increase compared with 2.78 million during the same period last year.In June alone, Jordan welcomed around 595,000 international visitors, marking an 8 per cent year-on-year increase despite ongoing regional challenges.Tourism revenues also rose significantly. During the first five months of the year, tourism income reached JD2.167 billion, up 16 per cent from JD1.873 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.The Dead Sea region remained a top attraction, receiving 2.717 million visitors in the first half of 2025, up from 2.375 million in the same period last year, a 14 per cent increase. Daily visitors also rose from 411,000 to 575,000, reflecting a 40 per cent surge. In parallel with these positive trends, tourism authorities have prioritised infrastructure upgrades, service enhancements, and job creation as part of broader efforts to foster sustainable economic growth, the statement said.Muntaha Ismail, Marketing Director at a local tourism office, attributed the sector’s performance to long-term planning and strategic outreach.“We have focused on reaching untapped international markets through modern digital campaigns. Jordan is increasingly being recognised as a diverse destination for global travellers,” she said.Rabei Bashar, an employee at a hotel group operating in the Kingdom, emphasised the role of public-private partnerships.“With improved air connectivity and a broader range of accommodations, Jordan has become more accessible and welcoming than ever,” he noted, adding that tourist numbers in recent weeks have increased by no less than 20 per cent.
