During a meeting in Rio de Janeiro on July 6, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính reaffirmed Việt Nam’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) to safeguard global and national health. He thanked WHO for its critical support during the COVID-19 pandemic and called for continued collaboration in building Việt Nam’s grassroots health system, refining healthcare policies, and improving environmental and living conditions to promote sustainable public health. The PM urged WHO to send technical experts to assist in these efforts and emphasized the importance of WHO’s leadership in monitoring global health threats and coordinating international health responses. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised Việt Nam’s health achievements and affirmed the organization’s readiness to provide expertise and support. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in the broader context of global health initiatives, with a shared goal of improving healthcare systems and addressing future disease challenges more effectively.
