AIIB URGED TO SUPPORT VIỆT NAM'S INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính met with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun in Rio de Janeiro on July 6, urging continued support for Việt Nam’s infrastructure development. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the expanded BRICS summit, focused on strengthening AIIB–Việt Nam cooperation. PM Chính called for concessional financing for key projects, notably the Lào Cai–Hà Nội–Hải Phòng standard-gauge railway, and emphasised the importance of integrating technology transfer and human resource training into transformative infrastructure initiatives. He also highlighted Việt Nam’s ambitions for 8% GDP growth in 2025 and sustained double-digit growth in subsequent years. Jin praised Việt Nam’s economic achievements and expressed strong support for its infrastructure vision. He affirmed AIIB’s commitment to mobilising resources for major projects in transport, logistics, energy, healthcare, and climate resilience, noting their significant impact on connectivity and investment attraction.
